I thought I would make my first blog post about my wide range International Project Leadership experience. I think it makes me a good project leadership coach for those who are looking to be guided in their career development as a project leader.
My project leadership experience started in 1993 with a fast track EPCM pharmaceutical project in the NE of England but my international experience began in 1995 when I was sent to Shanghai in China to review 3 pharmaceutical projects there. I ended up staying for 6 months and becoming both project and construction manager for them. A baptism by fire in international project execution!!
Since then I have gone on to work in multiple countries:
China (twice)
Hong Kong
Malaysia (three times),
Singapore (three times),
Australia
Thailand
UAE (twice)
Oman
India
Also my experience spans multiple types of projects from oil & gas upstream (onshore and offshore), downstream (refinery and petrochemicals), mineral processing, renewable energy, pharmaceutical & even a luxury hotel.
Over 28 years of experience I have led increasing size of projects upto S$2.4 billion in project total installed cost (TIC) as well as been part of the leadership team for mega projects upto ~ US$9 billion. My experience includes being part of the leadership for complex stakeholder and joint venture projects as well.
